Playschoolsf is a fully licensed nature-based preschool based on constructivist values, Waldorf influence and attachment teaching. A love for the outdoors and our local neighborhoods is a value we hold high as a community.

We provide a safe educative space where children learn through exploration in the arts, indoor space, music, storytelling and love for the outdoors. Building bonds to promote healthy relationships with individuals are the essential aspects of early childhood that we strive for.

Our small community calls for commitment and responsibility. It is a place where lasting friendships and precious memories are made.

We have moved from our Glen Park location and are now located in our sunny Bernal Heights neighborhood. The school runs primarily outdoors at Holy Park in Bernal Heights.

We abide by all COVID safety protocols and take health and safety of our community very seriously. A healthy community is a happy community.

About Me:

Hi! I'm Kathy, I'm a mother to three children, Sunny (2), Harvey (6), and Weston (12).

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from San Francisco State University with a minor in human sexuality. I worked in public health with HIV doing testing ,counseling and harm reduction. I also did community outreach to families marginally housed or those close to homelessness. I have always loved being around children and have been teaching in the Bay Area for the last twelve years in both early childhood and K-1 grades.

I received my Master's Degree in Education within early childhood from Mills College in 2009. I also received my multiple subject teaching credential for k-8. During this time I was enriched in constructivist and attachment teaching and fell in love with early childhood education. In 2014 I founded Playschoolsf.. Having taken a pause during the pandemic, we plan to open enrollment for the Spring of 2024.
